Local kids scrambled to claim their share of 30,000 Easter eggs at E.E. Robinson Park on Saturday, March 24th.
The event brought an estimated 2,000 excited children who were separated into three groups based on age. The first group to go were the toddlers at noon, followed by a 4-6-year-old and 7-9-year-old group.
Volunteers scattered 10,000 brightly colored plastic eggs, each filled with a toy or candy for each age group. Participants formed a large circle around the scattered eggs anxiously waiting as the DJ counted down to the word “go”.
The hunt for eggs was only a part of the fun. The Easter Bunny paid a visit as well, giving the kids a thrill as parents got photos and videos.
The annual event is hosted by Sugar Hill and is in its thirteenth year and has become an Easter tradition for many area children. “When the children of Sugar Hill grow up, we want them to remember their childhood in our “Sweet City” fondly. By doing events like the Sugar Hill Easter Egg Hunt, the city is helping children create community and make memories that will last a lifetime.” said Mayor Steve Edwards about the importance of having these fun-filled community events.
