Two people have been arrested for their involvement in the murder of George Young on November 16, 2017.  Tia Young age 42 and Harvey Timothy “Tim” Lee age 38 both of Buford have each been charged with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Assault.

Tia was George’s wife at the time of the homicide. They had 3 children together.  Tim was a family friend who lived in the home with the Young family at the time of the murder. Early in the investigation, detectives found evidence to suggest that Tia and Tim were involved in an intimate relationship.

According to detectives, George, Tia, and Tim all knew each other from early adulthood.  They were originally from South Carolina. When Tim become unemployed, George invited Tim to live with their family on Montauk Hill Drive in Buford.  George later hired Tim to work with him at a security company.

When interviewed by detectives about the night of the homicide, inconsistencies were found in Tia and Tim’s story. Detectives believe that the murder of George was financially motivated. George had a life insurance policy for a significant amount of money.

Tia and Tim were brought into GCPD Headquarters Monday afternoon. Both have denied any involvement in the murder of George.  Following their interviews, they were transported to the Gwinnett County Jail. Tia has not been able to collect on the life insurance policy.
