The City of Sugar Hill Council Meeting was held on June 11, 2018. Members of the Council awarded local resident,  Nicole DiMercurio, with a plaque congratulating her on running in the Boston Marathon. Her parents were present in place of Nicole to accept her award.

Twelve new businesses, eight home based and four commercial, received business licenses. There are many employment positions available and the information can be found on the Sugar Hill website. The North Gwinnett Co-Op needs donations for the summer. Donations can be done through the city utility bill or in person at the Co-Op located at 4395 Commerce Drive, Buford.  

City offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.

There are leasing opportunities available at the new E-Center, which is anticipated to have an August opening.

The City Manager made note that it is lawn care season and asked for travelers to be aware of city maintenance workers mowing, especially along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

In regards to New Business, public hearings were held for the rezoning of several areas. The Buford Church of Christ was granted a 3 year gravel lot permit, allowing a second entrance off Old Chatham Road. After hearing concerns from residents on Old Chatham Road, the council members made the suggestion that a gate be placed at the second entrance. The motion was approved. Ansley Hillcrest, LLC requested rezoning along Hillcrest Drive and a review of design plans for new residential properties. Motion approved.

The meeting was adjourned for the public and council members held an executive session privately.
