  • BHS Football Player of the Week September 20, 2020: Mason McCranie

    The Buford High School Varsity Football Player of the Week is #32 senior Mason McCranie. McCranie is a 6-foot-1-inch, 205-pound linebacker for the Wolves. In the last two games, McCranie has made six tackles and two quarterback pressures. He also recovered a fumble and ran it in for a touchdown against Carver-Atlanta.

  • Hall County Fire Services battle late afternoon house fire

    BRASELTON — Crews with Hall County Fire Services responded to a call about a residential fire in the 4000 block of Ellison Farm Rd. in Braselton.  Firefighters responded to the call at 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

    Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire and smoking coming from the 2,500 square foot home.  Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control.  The fire was under control at 5:17 p.m.

    No injuries were reported.

    “The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office,” said Zach Brackett with Hall County Fire Services.

  • Buford Senior Academy Reader of the Week: Olivia Park

    Meet Olivia Park, a fourth-grader at Buford Senior Academy who is being honored as this week’s Reader of the Week. Olivia’s teachers are Ms. Kristin McGraw and Ms. Stacy Buffo.

    Olivia’s favorite book is “When You Reach Me,” a Newbery Medal-winning science fiction and mystery novel by Rebecca Stead that was published in 2009. Olivia says it’s her favorite book because she loves mystery and stories of time travel. Her favorite book genre is fantasy.

    Olivia’s favorite author is J. K. Rowling because she wrote Olivia’s second favorite book series on the boy wizard Harry Potter.

    Olivia has a younger brother who is in first grade and a pet fish named Ellie. She also loves playing softball. When she’s not playing softball, she’s reading books!

  • Suspect in Roxwood Park Drive murder arrested

    The suspect in the murder of a woman found in the middle of Roxwood Park Drive at Woodward Mill Road in unincorporated Buford has been arrested.

    Authorities caught up with Moses Dyl in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sept. 28 and was taken into custody. Dyl has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder for killing Shakeya Smith following a domestic argument.
