BUFORD — The Buford varsity softball team hosted fellow Region 8-AAAAAA opponent Habersham Central on Thursday afternoon at the Buford Softball Complex. The Wolves were victorious over the Raiders with a 6-1 win.
On the mound for Buford was sophomore Olivia Duncan who pitched five innings allowing four hits, one run and a walk. She struck out eight batters in her seventh win of the season. Her overall season record improves to 7-1. Freshman pitcher Emma Grace Williams would take over for Duncan in the sixth inning.
Senior Abbi Perkins drove in three of Buford’s six runs. She was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double earning three RBIs, as well as scoring a run. Freshman Mackenzie Pickens was also 3-for-4 against Habersham Central. She hit a triple, drove in two runs earning her two RBIs and scored two runs for Buford. Junior Taylor Malvin rounds out the top offensive players for Buford. Malvin was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Buford’s overall season record improves to 23-4 and remains undefeated in their region with a 13-0 record.
The Wolves will travel to Walnut Grove for a non-region game on Monday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.
