BUFORD — The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday that all lanes on the State Route 13 widening project will open to traffic next week.
Crews plan on opening the lanes on Thursday, July 9 and will begin moving the barrels at 9 a.m. By midday, all lanes should be open to traffic.
The construction area is on the Gwinnett/Hall line just north of Buford High School in Buford from Sawnee Avenue to Friendship Road along SR 13/Buford Highway.
“The former roadway consisted of two lanes with a variable width, with only a few locations with left turn and right turn lanes along the project length. Now Buford Hwy (SR 13) is a four-lane divided highway with a 20-foot raised median, four-foot bike lanes, curb and gutter and five-foot sidewalks on both sides,” said Katie Strickland with the Georgia Department of Transportation.
