GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Arefeen Chowdhury, a U.S. Army and Georgia National Guard veteran, business owner and educator, has announced his candidacy for Gwinnett County Commission District 4.
Chowdhury said his campaign will focus on fiscal accountability, disciplined leadership and restoring a service-oriented approach to local government.
In 2024, Chowdhury was the Republican nominee for Gwinnett County tax commissioner. He is a graduate of the Leadership Gwinnett Class of 2024 and currently serves as board member-at-large for the Gwinnett County Republican Party and treasurer for the Conservative Veterans of Gwinnett. He is also a life member of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association.
Chowdhury earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and a Master of Science in biology from Georgia State University. He also holds a graduate certificate in disaster management and has completed training with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. During his studies, he participated in a study abroad program at Oxford University.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army and Georgia National Guard, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
Professionally, Chowdhury is the CEO of Profound Consulting and previously worked as a financial executive with Fortune 500 companies. During his career, he has managed budgets exceeding $300 million, led multi-state teams and strengthened audit and compliance controls for companies including Amazon, Mercedes-Benz and LexisNexis. His experience also includes conducting fraud and risk investigations.
Chowdhury said District 4 residents deserve leadership grounded in financial expertise and accountability.
“District 4 deserves disciplined leadership, strong financial expertise and a commissioner who understands that public office is a position of service — not status,” Chowdhury said.
He said his background in military service, financial management and organizational leadership prepares him to bring operational discipline and executive-level financial expertise to the role.
