LAWRENCEVILLE — A man has been arrested in connection with a series of sexual assaults that occurred in Gwinnett County nearly four decades ago, according to the Lawrenceville Police Department.

Authorities said Glenn Daniel Plybon was taken into custody in connection with multiple rapes reported in Lawrenceville and surrounding areas during the summer of 1986.
Investigators said the assaults occurred between June 24 and July 5 of that year. In each case, a woman was attacked inside her apartment, and the suspect fled before officers arrived. Police at the time linked the incidents based on similarities in suspect descriptions and the method used to enter the residences.
A sketch of a possible suspect was released to the public in 1986, but no arrest was made, and the case remained unsolved for decades.
Officials said the investigation was reopened in recent years as part of ongoing efforts to review cold cases using advances in forensic technology. Evidence from the original investigation was resubmitted in 2025, and updated DNA analysis led investigators to identify Plybon as a suspect.

Authorities have not released details about where Plybon was living at the time of his arrest, his background or whether he has prior criminal history. Information about charges and his custody status has also not yet been disclosed.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that remained unresolved for nearly 40 years and reflects the growing role of modern DNA technology in solving cold cases.
