Buford 69, Central Gwinnett 35
The Buford varsity boys basketball team cruised to an easy 69-35 victory over Central Gwinnett in region play at the Buford Arena on Friday, Jan. 13.
Buford’s overall season record improves to 12-4, 3-0.
The Wolves will play River Ridge on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. in a non-region game at the Buford Arena.
North Gwinnett 54, Meadowcreek 40
North Gwinnett beat fellow Region 7-AAAAAAA opponent Meadowcreek 54-40 on Friday, Jan. 13 at Meadowcreek.
The Bulldogs were led by Caleb Jones-Dicks (20 points, seven rebounds), Julian Walker (nine points, 12 rebounds, six blocks) and Miles Clanton (eight points, four rebounds).
North Gwinnett’s overall season record improves to 6-10, 4-2.
Up next for the Bulldogs is another region game on the road as they play Duluth on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
Lanier 55, Shiloh 44
The Lanier varsity boys basketball team defeated Shiloh 55-44 in Region 8-AAAAAA competition on Friday, Jan. 13 at Shiloh.
The Longhorns were led by Jayce Nathaniel (17 points, 10 rebounds, eight blocks), Tahai Morgan (16 points), Osmar Garcia-Araujo (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Cameron Thornton (seven assists).
Lanier’s overall season record improves to 12-4, 3-0.
The Longhorns have another region game on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at home against Gainesville.
Girls basketball
Buford 80, Central Gwinnett 49
The Buford varsity girls basketball team remains undefeated after they beat region opponent Central Gwinnett 80-49 on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Buford Arena.
The Lady Wolves were led by Ava Grace Watson (29 points), Taylor Romano (20 points) and Lydia Ledford (13 points).
Buford (15-0) plays a non-region game against River Ridge at the Buford Arena on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
North Gwinnett 70, Meadowcreek 17
North Gwinnett’s varsity girls basketball team sailed past Region 7-AAAAAAA opponent Meadowcreek 70-17 on Friday, Jan. 13 at Meadowcreek.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Ava Watson (14 points), Sydney Woyce (12 points), Audrey Loudermilk (10 points) and Weslee Istone-Haupt (nine points).
North Gwinnett’s overall season record improves to 6-9, 4-2.
Up next for the Lady Bulldogs is a non-region game against Westlake at the MLK Peach Ball Classic at Berkmar at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.

The Lanier Lady Longhorns defeated Shiloh 65-45 in Region 8-AAAAAA play on Friday, Jan. 13 at Shiloh.
Lanier’s efforts were led by Nalani Gainey (22 points, seven rebounds, five steals, three assists), Asja Howell (14 points, six rebounds, three steals, two assists), Ajanae Jones (nine points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals) and Gamyzhae Williams (six points, 10 rebounds, two steals, two blocks).
The Lady Longhorns overall season record improves to 10-6, 2-1.
Lanier will face another region opponent Gainesville on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at home.
