Anyone who has caught a chorus or dance production at Buford High School over the last few years has probably seen the new Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen performing. Hope Fowler, a junior at BHS is an active student. She is a member of the BHS Literary Team, BHS advanced dance class, and BHS chamber chorus. Hope is a two-time GHSA State Champion in Girls Trio and was the region 8-AAAAA Champion in Girls Solo for Literary. She also finds time to help out at Buford Elementary as a teacher’s assistant.
If all of those activities were not enough, Hope found the time to enter one of the most prestigious pageant organizations in the country, the Miss America Organization. She entered the Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen competition which is one of the top local preliminary pageants in Georgia. Miss Capital City offered stiff competition and had state-level judges including FOX News contributor Jamie Kelton.
On September 29, 2018, Hope competed in the Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen pageant held at Mercer University. Hope competed in interview, fitness, talent, evening gown, and onstage question rounds. For her talent portion of the competition, she sang “Defying Gravity” from the Broadway musical Wicked. Find Your Voice: Building Self-Confidence Through Volunteerism is Hope’s personal platform initiative. She hopes to encourage young people to become active members of their communities. Through volunteerism, she believes young people can make a difference in their communities. Hope had a great competition and came away with the crown for Miss Capital City’s Outstanding Teen!
Hope will advance to compete at Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen in June 2019 with hopes of representing Georgia at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, July 2019. The current Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen, Rory Pan of John’s Creek, was named fourth runner-up to the 2018 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen this past July at the national pageant held in Orlando.
A big congratulations to Hope Fowler for her win and the town will be cheering her on at Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen in June 2019.
