American Legion to Host Camp for Cub Scouts

Every summer, the Boy Scouts of America host several local camps in the North Gwinnett area. This year, the Buford Day Camp will take place June 11th-15th at the American Legion Post located beside Buford Elementary School on Sawnee Avenue. The camp runs 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This summer’s theme is “Under Sea Adventure.” Camp activities will include investigation of sea creatures, parts of a boat and other water-related topics in addition to Scout favorites like archery, slingshots, outdoor sports, woodworking, and science experiments. All Elementary-aged students going into grades 1-5 are welcome (1st grade participants must have a guardian attend also). Registration is only $95 and includes all program activity materials as well as a themed shirt, leather name tag and camp patch.

A one day camp option is also being offered at the Buford American Legion on June 16th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. as well. Discovery Days are made available for those unable to attend a week long event, but are still interested in learning about the fun of Cub Scouts.

Older Scouts and adult volunteers are also needed for these events. Any availability is welcome to make these memorable moments for the younger Scouts.

Registration is available online at: https://www.nega-bsa.org/cs-twi-stem-cmp. For more information, interested participants or volunteers can contact Nathan Wheeler at (770) 962-2105.
