BUFORD — Dr. Robert Downs, Superintendent of the Buford City School District announced at the June 8, 2020, Buford Board of Education meeting held at the Buford City Arena that the district plans on resuming in-person instruction on the original back to school start date of August 5.

The school system is taking into consideration guidelines and recommendations released by the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Georgia Department of Education.

Specific plans for returning to school have yet to be completed as the situation is still evolving.  The administrative staff at Buford City Schools are working diligently to come up with plans that take into account measures to ensure the safety of the students and staff of the district.  Once the plans have been finalized, more details will be released to parents.

“We know that the best place for our students is in their schools,” Dr. Downs stated. “Providing a safe and stable environment for our students and staff is our highest priority. I applaud the efforts of our administrators as they work diligently to address changes necessary to keep everyone healthy. We know that our families and students are ready to come back as soon as our doors can safely open again, and we look forward to welcoming them back on August 5.”
