At the Jan. 23, 2023, meeting of the Buford City Schools Board of Education a motion was approved to appoint the architect and the construction manager at risk for the Buford Senior Academy addition. The architect for the project is going to be H. Lloyd Hill Architects & Associates, Inc. while Charles Black Construction Company was approved as the construction manager at risk for the addition.
Also approved at the meeting were pay requests to Charles Black Construction Company, Breaux & Associates and H. Lloyd Hill Architects & Associates, Inc.
A field trip request for the BHS dance team to allow them to compete at the GHSA State Dance Invitational in Macon, Feb. 10-11, 2023, was approved. Three fundraising requests were also approved. They were for the BMS track & field team to collect pledges/donations for the fun run, BHS chorus to do Java Joe’s fundraising and BHS riflery team to get pledges for a Shoot-a-thon. One community service request was approved for Buford Academy vendor for International Night (Just One Africa).
The board voted to table the adoption of the 2024-2025 BCS calendar to allow time for people to give feedback on the proposed school calendar. Approval was granted to purchase starting blocks for the 2023 track and field season, weight room flooring for the Athletic Building at BHS and signage for the Athletic Building at BHS with purchases made in phases over the next few years.
