The Buford lacrosse program has been steadily building up its strength for years. Well, their patience and hard work are paying off. The boys’ lacrosse team already made school history with their game on Thursday night, May 9, 2019, at Woodward Academy.
This 2019 team for the Wolves firmly cemented their place in school history with a 14-9 win over the War Eagles in College Park, Ga. The win sends Buford to their first ever final four appearance in lacrosse.
Leading the Wolves offensively were Grant Breyo and Max Whalen with four goals each. Danny Reymond was not far behind them with three goals while Jason Roche, Zach Salo, and Ashton Daniels each contributed one goal.
The defense was strong and gave Woodward very few opportunities. The defense was led by goalie Taylor Lewis who had 13 saves. Mitchell Whalen, Dom Maggio, and Jason Roche were also defensive standouts for the game.
“It [the win] means the world to me! We have worked so hard this year for this moment. All the conditioning going back to September has prepared us for the playoffs. We run 300s and this is our team’s motto,” states senior Taylor Lewis. “Whenever the game gets tough, we just tell one another, ‘One more 300. Let’s finish this.’ ”
Speaking on behalf of his teammates, Lewis remarks, “We would like to thank our community for the amazing support! Today was an away game, but our fans made it feel like a home game! We love this community! Go Wolves!”
Buford will take on the winner of the Lovett-Fellowship Christian game in their first Final Four appearance. Best wishes Wolves. Continue making school history.
