Buford City Schools has several plans for construction projects at its facilities, including Buford Senior Academy, Buford Middle School and Buford High School.
“We are attempting to anticipate needs for the future, looking at our current buildings and making plans to renovate and build over the next three years, which will carry us through for the next several years,” said Superintendent Melanie Reed in a news release.
Here’s a look at projects planned for BCS:
Design work has begun for the new football stadium across from Buford High School, and construction is expected to begin in January 2023 with an anticipated completion date of fall 2024.
A new Career and Technical Education building that will include a construction lab, a foods lab, multiple computer science labs, an engineering lab, and a law and public safety pathway lab is planned for Buford High School. A timeline for construction has not been set.
Construction is exepcted to begin this summer to convert the current print and wrestling rooms at Buford Middle School into multiple classrooms, with the project to be completed for the beginning of the school year this fall. bettingvn.com
Buford Middle School’s kitchen, cafeteria and current fieldhouse will be remodeled for the 2023-2024 school year to provide almost 20 classrooms.
The school system has plans to construct a visitor’s fieldhouse at Tom Riden Stadium located at Buford Middle School for the use of visiting football, cross country and track teams. The fieldhouse is expected to be finished this fall but may not be ready for the first home game of the 2022-2023 school year.
In spring 2023, construction at Buford Senior Academy will begin for the addition of a two-story building situated on the property directly behind the fifth-grade wing. This building will house 30 classrooms and office space as the third grade level will relocate to Buford Senior Academy in fall 2024.
The school system will communicate with parents through email and the district’s website regarding work zones and hours and changes to car rider lines as construction and renovations begin.
