Meet Anderson Mendez, a second-grader at Buford Academy. Anderson is the son of Epifanio and Sulivan Mendez. Anderson has five brothers, two of whom are older than him and three younger.
Anderson’s second-grade teacher is Mrs. Womack, and this week, Anderson is being honored as the Reader of the Week because of his love for reading.
Anderson’s favorite books include Dr. Seuss’ work, the Henry and Mudge series and Fly Guy books because he says they are all so funny. His favorite type of books to read are non-fiction books about turtles. Those books remind him of summer vacation. Anderson loves turtles and used to have one that he named Donatello!
“We continually find Anderson sitting on the floor in the media center just reading all the books he can until he gets sent back to class,” said Lana Nix, Buford Academy’s media specialist. “He can’t get enough!”
In his free time, Anderson loves to play on the playground and run around. Anderson also likes to explore the outdoors and solve mysteries when he is home with his binoculars and magnifying glass.
Congratulations, Anderson! Keep up the great work!
