Our reader of the week is Ellis Austin.
Ellis is the son of Ashley and Beau and has a 4-year-old brother, Avett, a 10-month-old sister, Elizah, and a cat named Tiger. Ellis is a first grader in Ms. Adler’s class at Buford Academy who loves to read, having already moved up to the third certification level in the Accelerated Reader program.
Ms. Adler said, “Ellis is already reading chapter books and loves the Dog Man series.”
Ellis also enjoys reading the Magic Tree House books “because of all of the adventures they take you on for each book,” he said.
A member of the Buford recreational football league, Ellis loves to play football, baseball and basketball and loves to read the sports books in the non-fiction section of the BA library.
Ellis said one thing his friends and classmates may not know about him is that he loves to write his own books and is a good drawer.
“Ellis is a star student and enjoys learning,” Ms. Adler said. “He is a leader in the classroom and helps others.”
Ms. Lana Nix, media specialist at Buford Academy, said, “Ellis is a quiet young man with a gentle soul. He is jumping leaps and bounds with his reading already this year and is always so eager to get a new book.”
