“She always has a book in her hands,” Sara Blankenship, media specialist at Buford Senior Academy, said when describing Reader of the Week, Maye Nordholz. “Maye has been a top reader many times because of her true love for reading.”
Maye is also very generous — “She’s donated some of her favorite books to the media center, so that her friends can enjoy them too,” Blankenship said.
Maye is a fourth grade student at Buford Senior Academy and her teachers are Ms. McGraw and Ms. Buffo. May enjoys reading historical non-fiction and mythology. Her favorite book is “Wundersmith” “because it is about a girl that goes into a fantasy land that she knows nothing about.”
Maye’s favorite author is Rick Riordan “because he writes books that are just my type.”
“I love reading because it takes me into an adventure,” Maye said, “it helps become more responsible, and it gives me something to look forward to every day, besides school and activities.”
Maye’s parents are Kary and Katie, and Maye has two siblings, a brother, Sam, who is 5, and a sister, Madeline, who is 7. She also has a dog, Hugo, that is quite hyper. Maye plays basketball and soccer and plans to start track and lacrosse. Her favorite foods and oranges and cheese sticks.
Congratulations, Maye, on being named Reader of the Week!
