Meet Cole Bare, a 5th grader at Buford Senior Academy. Cole is a student of Dr. Stu Chambers and had been selected as Buford’s Reader of the Week for his love of reading and interest in expanding his vocabulary. Mrs. Sara Blankenship, Media Center Specialist, shares, “Cole has read over 4 million words since the beginning of school. He has the goal of reading the most words EVER at Buford City Schools.” Cole’s passion for reading is obvious; he enjoys challenges, set goals, and pushes himself to excel.

Cole really enjoys reading about fantasy and adventure and claims that the “Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus” series are some of his favorite books. He names the fifth Heroes of Olympus novel, “The Blood of Olympus,” as his absolute favorite book, saying, “I like it because the fighting is cool, and I love what they do with giants.” Having a genuine interest in Greek mythology and stories proves that Cole isn’t your average reader, and his advanced reading level is extremely impressive.

Aside from reading, Cole spends a lot of time with his family and three cats. He loves to play video games, soccer, and tennis. If he could go anywhere in the world, he would visit his grandma’s house and eat some delicious french toast.

Cole is doing a fantastic job of keeping up Buford’s tradition of excellence. Keep up the good work, and go Wolves!

The media specialists at the Buford Senior Academy and Buford Academy select the Buford City Schools Reader of the Week.  Buford students grades first through fifth have a chance at being named the Reader of the Week. In addition to appearing online and in print, the Reader of the Week receives a voucher to Stars and Strikes for all of their hard work.
