Meet Diana Menjivar, a third-grader at Buford Academy. Her teachers are Mrs. Lisa Varini and Dr. Nicole Krist. Diana is this week’s Buford City Schools Reader of the Week.
She absolutely loves animals and her love of animals flows over into her reading interests. Her favorite genre of books is fantasy books all about animals. Diana’s favorite books to read are from the Magic Animals series by Sue Bentley.
“Diana is such a joy to be around. Every single time she comes to the media center she is always smiling and is a shining example of the Wolf Way with being kind, respectful, and responsible,” says Mrs. Lana Nix, media specialist at Buford Academy. “Diana is a student that we can count on to assist other students in finding books when they might need help.”
When not at school or reading, Diana can often be found in the company of her younger sister Mia, a first-grader at Buford Academy. One of Diana’s favorite things to do is to draw and she likes to teach Mia how to draw too. The sisters can often be found playing with their Barbies when they are not drawing. Diana likes to tell people about the smallest member of her family. That family member is her pet beta fish named Jake.
As evidenced by the attention she gives her sister, her pet beta fish, and classmates, Diana is a caring and remarkable young lady who genuinely loves learning and putting others before herself. Congratulations to Diana! Keep up the good work! Go Wolves!
The media specialists at the Buford Senior Academy and Buford Academy select the Buford City Schools Reader of the Week. Buford students grades first through fifth have a chance at being named the Reader of the Week. In addition to appearing online and in print, the Reader of the Week receives a voucher to Stars and Strikes for all of their hard work.
