Uju Oburota is a third grader in Mrs. Fleming’s class at Buford Academy.
Uju is a part of a large family with four brothers and sisters; Izu, a sophomore at Buford High School; Chibogu an eighth grader at Buford Middle School; Chinwe a sixth grader at BMS; and Chuma, who is 2 years old.
Media Specialist Lana Nix said Uju is an amazing reader.
“We continually ask her opinion on new books we add to the media center,” Nix said. “She will read anything and has such a strong reading ethic.”
Uju’s favorite book is “The Wishing Spell,” which is part of the “Land of the Stories” series written by Chris Colfer. This book is full of twists and turns, making the series a jam-packed adventure.
She also loves the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series by Jeff Kinney.
“Uju is dedicated to anything she puts her mind to including reading,” Mrs. Fleming said. “She is a kind, helpful and motivated student who knows the power of a good book!”
Outside of school, Uju enjoys doing gymnastics, and bars is her favorite event. She said she has been working hard to become better at the appartus, and it is also her favorite event to watch because of all the flips and turns gymnasts perform in their routines.
In addition to gymnastics, Uju said she also enjoys cheering, drawing, writing her own stories and playing games.
