Yubin Kim is a second grader in Mrs. Womack’s class at Buford Academy
Yubin came from South Korea without knowing any English. However, in just one year, he made great strides in learning the language and is now able to read chapter books.
His favorite book series is Lauren Tarshis’ “I Survived,” which covers historical events. Yubin is passionate about learning history, and his favorite subjects are social studies and science. In science, he is particularly interested in how things work, especially computers, and dreams of building his own one day.
When the weather is warm, Yubin likes to read outside and play in his backyard. He also enjoys tennis and swimming, and will start playing soccer this spring.
“It has been a joy to see Yubin’s progress in reading over the past two years,” said Media Specialist Lana Nix. “He is a determined and strong young man.”
