BUFORD — Citizens from around Buford gathered to celebrate the holidays, kicking off
the Christmas season with a bang at the Buford City Schools Fine Arts Department Community Holiday Concert on December 12, 2019. Located in the spacious Buford Arena, this concert featured some of Buford’s finest performers; from the Senior Academy to the High School, students of all ages shared a bit of Christmas cheer and engaged with the crowd through song and dance. The talented performing groups presented Christmas classics ranging from “Silent Night” to “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”, encouraging community members to smile and sing along.
This annual Community Holiday Concert allows the Buford City Schools System to showcase the talent within their prestigious Fine Arts Department, but also allows community members to enjoy a cheery seasonal tradition. Performers included the Buford Senior Academy Fifth Grade Band and BSA Chorus; the BMS Bucket Band, BMS Sixth Grade Band, BMS Jazz Band, BMS Concert Band, BMS Symphonic Band, and the BMS Combined Choruses; the BHS Percussion Ensemble, BHS Advanced Dance Class, BHS Advanced Freshman Chorus and Bel Canto Chorale, BHS Chamber Chorus, BHS Symphonic Winds, and BHS Combined Choruses Each group put their all into their performances as family, friends, and the community watched.
Toni Telenta, a senior at Buford High School and the bassoonist in the BHS Symphonic Winds, reminisces about her experience as a performer in the concert, saying, “I have participated in the Community Holiday Concert for all four years of high school. I love how every performance is unique, showing the range of talent and skill each group has. As a senior now, this concert helps remind me how far I’ve come since I first started playing with the band.” Truly, the Community Holiday Concert was a smashing success, maintaining a tradition of excellence and reminding everyone present to enjoy this holiday season.
