Meet Jonathan Ingram, a senior at Buford High School. Jonathan is the son of Kyle and Brenda Ingram and brother to Hayden and Jake Ingram, both of whom are alumni of Buford High School. As an active member of his community since moving to the district in the 3rd grade, Jonathan has truly embodied the characteristics of a Buford Wolf through his dedication to his passions and his unwillingness to compromise when achieving his goals.
High achieving is an understatement for Jonathan; his efforts in both Academics and Arts are tremendous and effectively display the extent of his talents. Jonathan challenges himself academically by taking AP and honors courses, proving his dedication to work hard in every area of his life. Because of his decision to push himself in school, Jonathan believes he is a better and more well-rounded individual.
When asked about his favorite subject, Jonathan shares that Language Arts holds a special place in his heart. “I always love studying the iconic and classic literature that is important to the history of our country,” Jonathan adds. It makes sense then that his favorite teacher is Mrs. McClure, Jonathan’s 9th grade Language Arts teacher. Since freshman year, Jonathan and Mrs. McClure have bonded and become close friends. Jonathan states, “Mrs. McClure is the first person I go to whenever something new or exciting happens to me.” Jonathan and Mrs. McClure even had the amazing experience of sharing the stage together at the annual “Dancing with the Wolves” event held by the Buford Dance Program.
The Buford Arts Department is the place where Jonathan truly shines as he is involved in almost every activity within it. Jonathan shares, “Performing is my number one passion, so I make sure to involve myself in any programs that include acting, singing, or dancing.” As a member of Musical Theatre, Chamber Chorus, and Advanced Dance, Jonathan is indeed talented in many areas; in fact, it seems as though there is little he cannot do. In addition to actively participating in these courses, Jonathan is a member of the Buford Quartet, winning the title of State Champion for three consecutive years. He is also a member of the elite Buford Dance Team, a compilation of Buford’s most talented dancers.
Recently, Jonathan has participated as a main cast member of the Buford One Act Play, “The Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.” Jonathan comments on the play, saying, “‘Gentleman’s Guide’ has been such a fun show for me, but it has also been a very different experience because I never played so many roles in a single show. Though some of my changes are pretty quick and stressful, I love playing all kinds of ridiculous characters on stage.”
On October 26, the Wolf Pack Players won the title of Region Champions and moved on to the state competition of One Act where they beat out all competition and were honored with the title of State Champions. Reflecting on this incredible feat, Jonathan states, “I am so proud of the cast and crew of ‘Gentleman’s Guide’ because our hard work truly paid off! I can’t believe that my last One Act competition is already over, but I couldn’t be happier with how the show turned out.” Jonathan and the cast’s tremendous success can be attributed to their relentless practice and dedication toward making this play the best it could possibly be.
In his free time, Jonathan prioritizes spending time with his friends and family. He loves watching horror movies with his friends and playing card games with his family any chance he can get. If there is a new Marvel movie out, he’s already in the theater, ready to watch. He plans no shortage of Starbucks trips before and after school as well. If he isn’t doing any of the above, he is most likely playing with his Havanese, Roscoe, and feeding him carrots (his favorite snack).
Overall, Jonathan is an ambitious young man with a full and enriching high school experience behind him and a lifetime of promise ahead of him. Whether he becomes an actor on the stage or the screen, his Buford family will always reflect fondly on his incredible legacy at Buford High and recognize him as a Buford Wolf forever.
