(Buford, Ga.) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that a stretch of Buford Dam Road at Lake Lanier along with several nearby parks will be closed on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, for road maintenance. Motorists must seek alternate routes to go between the Buford/Sugar Hill area and Forsyth County for the eight-hour span.
Buford Dam Road will be closed at the dam on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. so that road work can be done. This will also force closures to parks with entrances that are within the work zone.
The park areas that will be closed include:
- Lower Overlook
- Lower Pool West
- Lower Pool East
- West Bank Turn-out
- West Bank Park
The Corps said that the Lake Lanier Project Management Office and Visitor Center will remain open to public access. Anyone with questions may contact the project office at (770) 945-9531.
