BUFORD – Anyone who has driven down Buford Drive between I-985 and the Mall of Georgia has experienced the deteriorated state of that stretch of roadway. The excessive amount of rainfall has helped to speed up the crumbling of the asphalt causing major potholes all over the area.
The North Gwinnett Voice has taken notice of the ever growing number of complaints about that stretch of roadway in particular. In turn, NGV has contacted the Georgia Department of Transportation to inquire about their plans for repairing Buford Drive.
GDOT Spokesperson, Katie Strickland was quick to research the issue. She came back and was able to relate that GDOT plans on repairing a 1/2 mile stretch of Buford Drive near the mall as soon as the weather permits. She also said that GDOT has a major resurfacing project slated for 2023 for SR 20.
Until repairs are made, drive slowly and pay attention.
