Buford freshman Caroline Stanton got her first ever grand slam in her young high school career during the Wolves’ game against Collins Hill on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Collins Hill. Stanton’s 10th overall home run would propel the Wolves beyond the run rule, and Buford would beat Collins Hill 11-1 in five innings.

Senior Olivia Duncan (11-0) got the win. She pitched three innings where she gave up two hits and an earned run while striking out three. Junior Emma Grace Williams came in to pitch two innings. She did not give up any hits or runs and struck out one batter.

Offensive standouts for the Wolves were Stanton (1-for-4, grand slam home run, four RBIs, one run scored), sophomore Isabel Rettiger (2-for-3, two-run home run, three RBIs, two runs scored, one stolen base), junior Madison Pickens (3-for-3, two doubles, one run scored, two stolen bases) and junior Tavye Borders (2-for-3, double, one RBI, two runs scored, two stolen bases). Rettinger’s two-run home run was her first ever home run of her high school career.

The Wolves maintained their perfect season record. They are 23-0 overall and 14-0 in Region 8-AAAAAAA.

On Thursday, Oct. 13, Buford will close out its regular season on the road at Dacula. Game starts at 6 p.m.
