Two years after being drafted with the 15th overall selection, former Buford baseball star Dylan Lesko is on the move.
The San Diego Padres traded Lesko to the Tampa Bay Rays along with two other prospects in exchange for reliever Jason Adam. Lesko ranked as the third-best prospect in the Padres organization. He once ranked in the league’s overall prospect rankings, but fell out of the list by Baseball America due to issues with command and concern over injury.
Shortly after his MLB draft selection, Lesko underwent Tommy John surgery to repair a torn elbow ligament and returned to play in 2023.
Lesko, in 28 minor league starts, posted a 6.14 earned run average with 74 walks allowed. While with the Padres, Lesko rose to the High-A level but has yet to make it further.
