Buford High School baseball players Cannon Goldin and Nate Taylor have been selected as athlete spotlights.
“These two are more than great players, they are great young men,” BHS head baseball coach Stuart Chester says. “They win in the classroom and most importantly, off the field.”
Chester said both Taylor, a junior who pitches for the Wolves, and Goldin, a sophomore center fielder, are outstanding leaders and teammates.
“Everyone on the outside gets to see their talent on the field,” Chester says. “Those of us behind the scenes are blessed to get to see them for who they are and how they live by their values. Both are great and talented players, but even greater at things that don’t require talent.”
In the Wolves’ 14-0 shutout of Central Gwinnett on March 27, both Taylor and Goldin were recognized for their contributions. Taylor was the winning pitcher for Buford, allowing no hits and no runs over three innings while striking out 10 batters with no walks. Goldin went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, one run and a stolen base.
Goldin is committed to play college baseball for Ole Miss, while Taylor has committed to Georgia Tech.
