Buford High School boys 400-meter relay team breaks all-time state record

The Wolves’ 400-meter relay team set a new record for fastest time in Georgia history on Saturday, March 19, at the Christian Coleman Invitational track and field meet at Westlake.

The record-breaking team featured seniors Victor Venn, Tobi Olawole and Isaiah Bond as well as sophomore KJ Bolden.

The team ran the 400-meter relay in 40.05 seconds, breaking an all-time Georgia record and also setting the No. 1 fastest time in the entire nation for this season.

The four exceptional young athletes had already set themselves apart by being key players in Buford football’s third consecutive state championship earlier this year, and all three of the seniors have signed to play football in college.

They can now add a state and national record to their already impressive athletic résumés, and all four young men certainly have strong prospects going into the world of sport.

Bond also placed second in the 100-meter sprint, and Olawole and Bolden were both runners-up in their individual events.

The Buford boys placed second overall in the meet.
