BUFORD — Unexpected news has come down from the Buford City Schools Central Office early Tuesday morning. The Board of Education has accepted the unforeseen resignation of Mr. Lindsey Allen, Principal of Buford High School.
In an email sent to the parents of Buford City Schools’ students by Dr. Robert Downs, BCS Superintendent, he says, “We realize that this news is unexpected, and we want to assure you that Buford High School (BHS) is in good hands moving forward.”
Dr. Downs relays that Scott Chafin will serve as the interim principal for Buford High School. Mr. Chafin is the Assistant Principal at Buford Academy but will be the interim principal of the high school for the remainder of the school year. According to a statement released by Central Office, “Mr. Chafin was a highly-regarded educator and principal at Worth County High School before taking a role as a Program Manager at the Georgia Department of Education. He has deep connections in our community and a reputation for developing strong and supportive relationships with students and staff at all levels.” Buford City Schools will begin the hiring process to find a new permanent high school principal.
“Mr. Allen was pivotal in the opening of our new high school last year,” Buford City Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Downs said. “We appreciate all that he gave to our school during a time of extensive transition. I wish him the best in his future endeavors.” Dr. Downs added, “We are grateful for Mr. Chafin’s willingness to serve in this capacity for the remainder of the school year as we begin the search for a permanent high school principal. His extensive administrative experience coupled with his ties to our community make him an ideal candidate for this transition.”
The North Gwinnett Voice reached out to the Board of Education and they said that they are not currently releasing the personal details of Mr. Allen’s decision.
