Alumni Spotlight – Jay Fox, Class of 1985

Jay Fox is a proud family man who has been married to his wife, Dorothy Lappington Fox, for 31 wonderful years.  Together, Jay and Dorothy have two children, Adam and Rachael. 

Both Adam and Rachael are fourth-generation Buford graduates, highlighting the family’s deep roots in the community.

Adam, class of 2020, received his degree from Berry College in the spring of 2023. Currently, Adam is a marketing research specialist at Porsche Cars of North America while pursuing his passion as a part-time realtor at Atlanta Community Homes. 

Rachael, their second child, who is a BHS graduate from the class of 2022,  is a junior at Auburn University, majoring in neuroscience/pre-med.

Jay attended the Buford City school system from third to twelfth grade and graduated in 1985. During his time at Buford, Jay was active in football, baseball, band (percussion), and chorus.

 Although challenging, Jay states “the advanced math courses taught by Gerald Hopper at BHS instilled in the ability to tackle difficult challenges”, a skill he says, has served him well throughout life. 

Jay, is the son of the late Grady Fox, was a graduate of North Gwinnett High School’s class of 1965 and excelled in both football (as a running back) and baseball (as a catcher). His mother, Vicki Gardner Moulder, was a cheerleader for Buford and graduated with the BHS class of 1965. She still resides locally.

After completing high school, Jay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Kennesaw State University. while serving as a community coach in Buford for football, baseball, and wrestling.  Jay takes pride in working with Coach Dale Farr to start the wrestling program at BHS.

Later, he obtained a Master’s degree in Information Technology – Cybersecurity from Florida Tech.Jay has had a successful career in the field of information security and is currently the Director of Global Information Security at ACI Worldwide, a leader in real-time payments, where he has been employed for over 8 years.

Aside from his professional achievements, Jay is also an active member of his local community.  He has been a member of Sugar Hill Church for 12 years where he has served as a deacon for five of those years, He also belongs to the Buford Masonic Lodge.

 

Additionally, Jay stays involved in his community by participating in local events as well as reporting on local sports in his hometown newspaper. Outside of Buford sports, he’s a huge University of Alabama fan.

During his free time, Jay says he enjoys hiking and spending time with his family. “One of our favorite places is Seven Mile Beach on Grand Caymen because of its world-class SCUBA diving”.   

Jay’s dedication to his work and community makes him a role model for those seeking to positively impact others.
