Three area schools will take to the stage this weekend with theatrical productions showcasing their students’ talent.
Buford High School’s dance department will present its seventh annual original dance showcase “On Broadway,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the BHS Performing Arts Center. The hour-and-a-half long performances will feature students dancing to songs made famous in the Broadway world of musical theater with stunning costuming and special effects galore. Lanier High School will present its final weekend of performances of the ever-popular “Footloose the Musical” at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29, at Lanier High School Theatre. “Footloose” is the school’s submission to be considered for the Georgia High School Musical Theatre “Shuler” Awards and is under the direction of LHS theatre teacher Teri Lance. The North Gwinnett High School Players will open a two-night run of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, and closing Saturday, Jan. 29, in the NGHS Theatre. Showtimes on Saturday are at 2 and 6 p.m. The production is student directed, led by three senior theater students. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12 and will be sold at the door as well as online at ngpbc.booktix.com.
