Aubrey Smith, a linebacker for Buford High School has committed to further his education and football career with Colorado University. His announcement came via Twitter on Friday.
Smith has been a key part of back-to-back state championship teams for the Buford Wolves and will no doubt play a large role in Buford’s quest for a third straight title.
He was picked by his coaches as the BHS Player of the Week earlier this season for his performance in the Aug. 27 game against Clarke Central. During Buford’s game against Clarke Central, Smith had six tackles, one tackle for a loss, one sack and caused a fumble.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior is rated as a three-star recruit and had more than 10 Division I college offers, including offers from Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Florida State.
Smith took his official visit to Colorado in early October and after visiting the campus, he said he knew that Colorado was the school he wanted to go to. Smith will join fellow BHS Class of 2020 teammate, Victor Venn at Colorado.
