BUFORD — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation had a Buford man arrested on charges of child exploitation and computer or electronic pornography on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
Evan Charles Rider, age 29 of Buford, Ga. was arrested by the Gwinnett County Police Department and he was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail. Rider was charged with two counts of computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation after he engaged in a sexually explicit chat with what he believed to be a juvenile.
The investigation into Rider’s conduct and online activity was performed by the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. This investigation is part of an ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which is a part of the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. The ICAC Task Force is working hard to identify those who are involved in child pornography and those that seek to sexually exploit children. The U.S. Department of Justice created the ICAC Program in light of an increasing number of children and teenagers using the Internet, the proliferation of child pornography, and the sheer numbers and cunning tactics of predators searching online for unsupervised contact with underage victims.
Anyone with information about this case or any other cases of child exploitation is asked to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Unit at 404-270-8870.
