For the seventh consecutive year, the Buford City School District was named the No. 1 best public school district in the state of Georgia by Niche.
Niche examines how schools and colleges perform and connects parents and students with those schools. Niche includes rankings on 94,491 public schools, 2,489 private schools and 11,846 school districts.
To determine the rankings, Niche includes information such as data from the U.S. Department of Education on areas that include the evaluation of teachers, resources and facilities, extracurricular activities and more. Niche also takes into account ratings from current students, alumni and parents.
Niche released its 2022 Best Schools and Districts rankings on Monday, Sept. 20. Buford City Schools was ranked as the best school district in the state of Georgia. Gwinnett County Public School district fell to No. 25 as it was previously ranked No. 21. Other local school district rankings are Forsyth County (No. 3), Jefferson City Schools (No. 7), Fulton County Schools (No. 24), Hall County (No. 54), Jackson County Schools (No. 57) and Barrow County Schools (No. 64).
Buford City Schools earned the No. 1 best school district in the state for the seventh consecutive year.
“It’s unprecedented for a school district to be recognized seven years in a row,” said Buford City Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Downs. “BCS being the top rated district is a direct reflection on our amazing staff, supportive board and outstanding students and community.”
Buford scored an A+ in the areas of academics, teachers, clubs and activities, administration, food, college prep, health and safety and sports. Buford scored an A in diversity and resources and facilities.
Within the Buford City School district, Buford High School received an A+, Buford Middle School got an A+, Buford Academy had an A, Buford Elementary also received an A and Buford Senior Academy was not rated.
In addition to being named the No. 1 best school district in Georgia, Buford City Schools was ranked first in the state for being the best place to teach and the best district for athletes. BCS earned the No. 7 best school district in the nation for athletes. It is ranked as the fourth safest school district in the state and is ranked third in the state for the best teachers.
