When the workers rolled into the Laurel Manor subdivision about 7:15 a.m. July 28, they were greeted by a sign at the entrance that read “Thank you Buford City Sanitation.” Along the pickup route, the workers were treated to cheers and applause from residents of all ages, who also surprised the city employees with handmade signs, gift cards, baked goods and more.
“This is what life is all about,” said resident Lauren Urbizo, who organized the appreciation day. “Loving people well!”
“It was such a great event to show love and appreciation to our sanitation workers who work so hard week after week for our community,” added Laurel Manor resident Robin Kerr.
“One guy said he felt like he won the lottery and someone had never done something this kind for him,” Urbizo said. “So it reminded me how just a little kindness goes a long way … in your job, in your work, in your personal life … go out of your way every once in a while to make someone else’s day!”
