This season’s all-county volleyball awards have been announced with Buford and North Gwinnett taking top honors.
Joya Screen, a junior from North Gwinnett High School, was named the Gwinnett County Class AAAAAAA Player of the Year. Another junior, Ashley Sturzoiu from Buford High School, took the Gwinnett County Class AAAAAA-A Player of the Year award.
North Gwinnett won the Class AAAAAAA Team of the Year award, and Buford was named the Class AAAAAA-A Team of the Year for Gwinnett County.
Kristina Stinson, head coach for North Gwinnett, was honored for reaching 100 career wins and was named the Class AAAAAAA Coach of the Year. Buford head coach Hadli Daniels shared the Class AAAAAA-A Coach of the Year honors with Greater Atlanta Christian’s Rachel VanderPol.
Daniela Domkam from North Gwinnett was named to the Class AAAAAAA All-County First Team. Kendal Crumpler, also from North Gwinnett, made the Second Team for All-County, while teammate Gabby DeRosa received an Honorable Mention.
In Class AAAAAA, Buford’s Mikayla Hayden and Lanier’s Kate Scheessele made the All-County First Team. Sydney Austin and Kiana Polk of Buford were named to the All-County Second Team. Lanier’s Courtney Howerton, Reign Jarin and Eva McLean received an Honorable Mention.
Alex Carefoot of Buford, Bailey Bradford of Lanier and Lindsay Kahren of North Gwinnett received Scholar-Athlete awards.
