The Buford Pink girls softball team made an outstanding comeback in the 6U Dacula Falcons Fall Classic on Saturday, Nov. 7, to win the championship title.
Scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in the championship game, the Buford Pink notched a 24-23 win over Grayson at Dacula Park. The win followed a 22-11 loss to Grayson in the first elimination game.
The Buford Pink went 5-1 in the tournament and the championship capped off a successful season for the team, which went undefeated in the 6U division of the Greater Buford Athletic Association and won the league title with a 13-0 record.
“I’m super proud of what this team was able to accomplish in the last three months. They learned the game and worked as a true team to make it an undefeated season (13-0),” head coach Alberton Teran said. “Then, go to the Dacula Fall Classic tournament and make it to the championship game against a very strong team which had us against the wall until the last inning, when everyone played their part and we came back to score 10 runs in the last inning to win, that’s awesome and that’s what sports are all about even at this young age.”
Buford Pink team members are Amelia Pugh, Ella Fritsch, Ellie Harris, Emma Teran, Genevieve Driver, Keri Willis, Leighton Bolden, Cecila Lynch, McKenna Brigman, Norah Scott, Talayna Britt and Taylor Bui. The team is coached by Alberto Teran, Chris Fritsch, Andrew Scott and Brandon Brigman.
