Local dirt bike racer Jackson Burns has been named a Hometown Hero for a Grand National Cross Country Series race this weekend in Washington, Georgia.
GNCC selects four youth riders who embody the spirit of off-road racing to serve as representatives for each event. As a Hometown Hero, 8-year-old Jackson visited shops and restaurants around the local area to hang posters and spread the word about this weekend’s race.
Jackson is one of more than 1,500 racers expected to compete this weekend in round three of the 13-stop racing series, and the event includes four-wheeled ATV racing Saturday and dirt bike racing Sunday. Classes range from riders as young as 4 to 60-plus divisions. The top GNCC pro classes feature some of the world’s top off-road racing talents, including riders from England, Europe and Australia.
“The unique thing about GNCC Racing is that an average racer gets to race alongside some of the top racers from across the world,” said GNCC Trail Boss Jeff Russell. “Even with all of this talent, local racers always seem to have an advantage because the course is so similar to the terrain they’re used to riding.” bettingvn.com
So far in 2022, Jackson has competed in GNCC rounds in Georgia and South Carolina. This is the third consecutive year Jackson has raced for a national title. Jackson also competes locally in the Southern Off-Road Championship Series, the Southern Roots Race Tour and the CXC Southeast Race Series.
