Buford tops Collins Hill 14–6, remains undefeated

BUFORD — Buford High School remained unbeaten Tuesday night with a 14–6 win over Collins Hill in Region 8-6A softball action, completing a three-game sweep of the Eagles.

The Wolves (25–0, 14–0 Region 8-6A) jumped out to a 5–0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. An error by Collins Hill’s third baseman allowed junior Janie Goldin to score the game’s first run. Senior Addie Rackley followed with a sacrifice fly, and senior Kadyn Gabrels hit a two-run homer. Junior Olivia Nagel capped the inning with a two-out RBI single.

Senior Summer Castorri added an RBI double in the second inning to extend Buford’s lead to 6–0.

Collins Hill rallied with four runs in the bottom of the second to cut the deficit to 6–4, but Buford answered with three runs in the third. Sophomore Lydia Hamrick and Goldin hit back-to-back triples, and senior Ella Pierce Hensley drove in a run on a groundout.

Buford added three more runs in the fourth, highlighted by Rackley’s RBI double and a two-run homer by freshman LG Goldin. Both teams scored twice in the fifth before the game was called due to the run rule.

Junior Kennedy Townsend (3–0) earned the win, pitching two innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits. Nagel pitched in relief.

Buford finished with 12 hits and stole nine bases in the game.
