Buford hosted Allatoona in the first round of the GHSA Class AAAAAA Volleyball State Championship playoffs on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2021. Led by junior Ashley Sturzoiu, the Lady Wolves defeated the Lady Buccaneers 25-15, 28-26, 25-20 to advance to the second round of the state playoffs.
Sturzoiu led the offense for Buford (33-4) with 12 kills. Mikayla Hayden contributed with 10 kills while Kiana Polk had seven kills. Polly Cummings had a good night with 36 assists.
Buford will play host once more for the second round of the state playoffs on Saturday. The Lady Wolves will either play North Atlanta or Richmond Hill. The time is to be determined.
