Junior Ashley Sturzoiu, an outside hitter for the Buford varsity volleyball team led the Lady Wolves to region wins over Shiloh and Winder-Barrow on Tuesday, Sept. 21. Buford defeated Shiloh first with set scores of 25-6, 25-9. Buford then turned around and beat Winder-Barrow 25-8, 25-11.
Leading the offense for Buford was Sturzoiu who had 13 kills on the night. Mikayla Hayden and Sydney Austin each contributed with 10 kills. Polly Cummings had 31 assists on Tuesday night.
Buford’s overall season record improves to 20-2 and 4-0 in the region.
The Lady Wolves will travel to Parkview High School on Thursday, Sept. 23 for pool play in the Gwinnett County Championships. Game starts at 4:30 p.m. The Gwinnett County Championship finals will be held on Saturday at GAC for the Gold Bracket, Lanier for the Silver Bracket and Berkmar for the Bronze Bracket.
