Buford volleyball hosted Athens Academy and Oconee County in its first home matches of the season on Thursday, Aug. 18, at Buford High School. The Wolves defeated Athens Academy with set scores of 25-18, 25-13 and then beat Oconee County with set scores of 25-19, 25-17.
Standouts for Buford (5-0) in the match with Athens Academy were senior Sydney Austin (10 kills), senior Ashley Sturzoiu (eight kills), senior Polly Cummings (22 assists) and senior Dylan Cummings (12 digs).
In the Wolves’ match with Oconee County, Sturzoiu (nine kills), freshman Clara Briley (six kills) and senior Trinity Haynes (five digs, four aces) were standouts.
Buford will play Pope at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in a non-region match.
