The Buford varsity volleyball team won their third straight state championship, their first in Class AAAAAAA on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Lakepoint Sports Complex in Emerson. The Wolves defeated Lambert 22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 19-17 to win the title.
Standouts in the title game were senior Ashley Sturzoiu (22 kills), senior Sydney Austin (19 kills), freshman Clara Briley (12 kills), senior Polly Cummings (54 assists) and sophomore Alexa Flowers (12 digs). Cummings reached her 2,000th career assist during the game against Lambert.
Buford’s overall season record was 38-5.
