The Lady Wolves volleyball team was on the road on Thursday to face two opponents at Centennial High School. Buford faced two very tough opponents, Centennial and Alpharetta. They would defeat Centennial in two sets 25-23, 25-19. Alpharetta won the first set of their match 19-25. Buford rallied back to take the next two sets 25-16, 15-10 to win the match. This match was the Lady Wolves’ first three-set match of the season.
In the match against Centennial, junior Polly Cummings had 24 assists during the two sets. She did a good job of evenly spreading out the offense for Buford as Mikayla Hayden, Ashley Sturzoiu and Sydney Austin each had six kills.
After a difficult loss to Alpharetta in the first set, Buford rallied back to take the next to sets to win the match. Setter Grace Moon took over in the second and third sets ending the match with 22 assists. Sturzoiu led the offense with 13 kills while Hayden had seven kills. Kiana Polk and Camryn Carlton each had five kills.
Buford’s season record improves to 14-1.
Buford travels to Parkview High School on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, to play both Parkview and Wesleyan.
