MACON — The Buford wrestling team takes home another state championship title this year after capturing the Traditional State Championship title for Class AAAAAA on Friday night at the Macon Centreplex.
Buford took home the win amassing 183 points while second-place finisher Lassiter had 171 points. Third place went to Richmond Hill with 138.5 points.
Freshman Rylan Ibold is Buford’s lone individual state champion after he beat out Colin Dragon of Richmond Hill for the win in the 106 lbs weight class. Senior Nick Cambria came up just short in the 132 lbs weight class to Lassiter’s David Panone earning him second place. Tyler Henley had a third-place finish while Grayson Santee and Aaron Kirkland both finished fourth. Gavin Pope and Jacob Downing both had fifth-place finishes for the Wolves.
Buford wrestling also won a state championship title during the State Duals this year. They are also region champions and had 13 individual region champions. It has been a successful year for Buford wrestling. Congratulations!
