BUFORD — In one night, Buford saw two career-best records. The fastpitch program at Buford saw its 500th program career win and senior pitcher Ansleigh Hollifield struck out a career-best 12 opponents.
At the Buford Softball Complex, Buford hosted Brookwood and came away with a 3-1 win on Tuesday night. Hollifield would record the win as she pitched the entire seven innings. She struck out a career-high 12 Brookwood batters giving up only three hits and one run, and no walks. Hollifield had just broken a personal best on Thursday, August 15 striking out 10 and less than a week later broke this record again.
The offense for Buford was led by junior Abbi Perkins when she hit a line-drive solo home run over the right-center field wall in the fifth inning. Later in the fifth inning, junior Emi Hall and senior Kara Taylor would also drive in a run each. Perkins ended the night going two for two, one home run, one RBI, one run scored, and one base stolen. Taylor was one for two, had a sac fly, and one RBI while Hall and sophomore Taylor Malvin were one for three with one RBI apiece.
Buford’s overall season record improves to 7-2. Buford will host Norcross on Wednesday, August 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Buford Softball Complex.
