Sophomore Emma Grace Williams pitches a shutout against Winder-Barrow as the Lady Wolves hosted their region opponent on Tuesday night at the Buford Softball Complex. After five innings, the game was called due to the run-rule as Buford beat Winder-Barrow 8-0. This is Buford’s second win of the week in region play.
Williams (6-0) pitched her fifth complete game of the season. She was on the mound for five innings where she five hits, struck out a career-high nine batters and did not give up any runs or walks.
Sophomore Madison Pickens led the Buford offense where she went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, three runs scored and stole three bases. Other offensive standouts for Buford were sophomore Adriana Martinez (1-for-3, two RBIs) and junior Emma Castorri (1-for-2, an RBI, one run scored and stole one base).
Buford’s record improves to 14-1-1 overall and 6-1 in Region 8-AAAAAA.
Buford will travel to Shiloh for a region game on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
