The Buford Lady Wolves resumed play in the Hawk Invitational tournament on Saturday as they hosted Harris County. Senior Olivia Haag started in her first-ever varsity game and went on to record the win for Buford as they beat Harris County 5-0.
Haag (1-0) pitched for five innings, had four hits, struck out three and walked two batters. Olivia Duncan would pitch in relief in the sixth inning where she had two hits and struck out one batter before the game was called due to tournament time constraints.
Offensive standouts for Buford were Duncan who was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored; freshman Abby McKinnis went 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs; junior Emma Castorri was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI and sophomore Mackenzie Pickens who was 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Buford’s overall season record now improves to 5-1.
The Lady Wolves will be on the road on Monday for a non-conference game against Walnut Grove.
